Litigation Associate (3+ Years) | 1500 Billable

Location: Carlsbad, CA
Schedule: In-office for first 90 days, then hybrid (3 days in / 2 remote)

Overview

A growing civil litigation firm is seeking a Litigation Associate with 3+ years of experience to handle a mix of litigation and corporate governance work. The practice focuses on common interest development (HOA), real estate, construction, and business disputes.

This role is best suited for someone who can take ownership of cases, work directly with clients, and operate with a high level of independence while still having access to supportive, experienced partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage cases from early stages through resolution
  • Handle depositions, mediations, and motion practice
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, briefs, and client communications
  • Advise HOA boards on governance matters, including policy and document interpretation
  • Develop case strategy in collaboration with leadership
  • Maintain strong client relationships

Requirements

  • 3+ years of civil litigation experience
  • Experience taking and defending depositions and participating in mediations
  • Strong writing and analytical skills
  • Background in real estate, construction, business litigation, or HOA law is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively
  • Comfortable in a client-facing role

Compensation & Structure

  • Salary: $130,000 - $200,000 (DOE)
  • Billables: 125-140 hours/month

Bonus Highlights:

  • Bonuses begin at 125 hours/month
  • Up to $60K annual bonus potential
  • $5K/month bonuses at 161+ hours
  • Tiered incentives between thresholds
  • 1.5x bonus multiplier for November and December
